Benefits of Running

Running is one of the most beneficial cardio exercises you can do. Getting active can make you feel better and boost your overall well-being level. By running at least 10 minutes per day, you can significantly reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease and improve your knees and back. Moreover, it releases endorphins, which alleviate stress by reducing pain. As a result, you can sleep more soundly. It can even stimulate the growth of your hippocampus, responsible for memory and learning.

Another more obvious benefit of running is weight loss. Since running involves continuously moving your entire body weight, it burns more calories than most other activities. You don't need to run fast to burn as many calories. Running slow burns almost as many calories (although it takes twice as long). Additionally, you will be more likely to maintain weight loss if you build a consistent running habit.

Lastly, running can improve mental health. Runners may start up this habit to improve their physical health, but one benefit they overlook is that it boosts their mood, too. It is even said to be as effective as psychotherapy or prescription medications, although it shouldn't be regarded as a complete substitute.
